    superheat

hi all i fairly new to refrigeration.but my problem is this .i was taught that superheat should be around 6 degrees celcuis.when i fitted a condensing unit the other day the low side gauge read -35 but the bulb read +12 on r404a is this a mistake on my side or is there more to it. curiosity got the better

Maybe you should explain more in depth what the conditions are. Is it a low temp freezer or just a coolroom. How long was the unit running when you took the -35 (Celsius I presume). Superheat is in Kelvin and not Celsius and from that little info you gave I would start looking at the level of charge. Could be considrably undercharged.

    Re: superheat

You can't really adjust the superheat of any system while it is pulling the box, room, etc down to temperature.

Check the superheat when the box is at temp. And around mid cycle. Meaning if the cycle is say 20mins. Check it at 10mins.
