starting gear of mtz32jf5ave compressor
Starting gear.jpg
Hi was wondering if someone could tell me if this is wrong as the starting capacitor is over heating and burning out after 5mins. Its for a danfoss mtz32jf5ave compressor thanks much appreciated if someone could help me out

Re: starting gear of mtz32jf5ave compressor
You appear to have the start winding in constant, normally on relays live into no5 and linked from there through klixon to common, neutral through start capacitor to contact 1,neutral through run capacitor to contact 2,neutral direct to R run winding, connect contact 2 direct to S start winding. The start capacitor is in series with the start winding only when motor is starting, when the relay drops out so does the start winding . The run capacitor is in parallel with the start and run windings.

This is how climate tech told me how to wire it, it is also blowing trip as compressor starts. You really appreciate if someone could point me in right direction thanks

Re: starting gear of mtz32jf5ave compressor
Most compressors ive worked on send the phase direct to the common and neutral through relay ,probably make no difference the other way around.Your problem is if you ran the compressor according to your first diagram you more than likely have burnt out your start winding,Meggaring the windings will confirm if this is the case

Re: starting gear of mtz32jf5ave compressor
After I tried the wiring from danfoss an climate I wired it back the way it was an the compressor ran. It wasnt me that wired it there was some1 at it before me. If I meter the windings an find them ok would you have any suggestions as to what it could be ? Thanks

Re: starting gear of mtz32jf5ave compressor
The first drawing has the start winding wired as the run winding with a permanent live, and the run winding wired as the start winding with the capacitors connected across it. I expect that there wasn't enough voltage from the run winding to cause the relay to drop the start cap out of circuit which is why it kept over heating. I would not be surprised is damage has not been done to the motor.
What are the correct resistances for the windings, and do yours match up?Mostly found in Oxfordshire, UK :)

Re: starting gear of mtz32jf5ave compressor
I give the resistances of windings to danfoss and they told me they were ok
