craft 2 ton heating mode problem
hi
i have 2 ton craft split unit
it had leak so i repair it
when i charged the system
it work peftectly in cooling mode
11 a current
40 psi suction line pressure
but when i change it to heating mode
the discharge pressure increases gradually
starting from
8 ampere
100 psi
reaching 475 psi
and current reach 25 a
so compressor start opening relief valve
so pressure decrease to 350 psi then increase to 475 psi
so what is the problem
i checked both capillary tube and filter in outdoor unit they are working very good
voltage is 220 v

ok
man i think the reversing valve working
because i install it
then i tested it
before chraging the system

Re: craft 2 ton heating mode problem
yes
i cool it using wet rig and water
then when i connect and disconnect the RV
its work perfectly
so can it be blockage or that impossible

Re: craft 2 ton heating mode problem
easiest way to proove what part is knackered is to degas it, fit gauge points on each pipe between components- the reversing valve may be moving- but not seating correctly!!

Re: craft 2 ton heating mode problem
can you explain more
now the system not contain *****
ok
i will fit the gauge to both suction line and discharge line connection
ok
then what

Re: craft 2 ton heating mode problem
So, out of interest,
What system is this?
What refrigerant is it operating on?
When you repaired it, how deep were your vacuum? Standing?
.

Re: craft 2 ton heating mode problem
if youve degassed it then cut out the check valves and check you get flow through them- make sure u can braze em back in- also check for strainer gauzes before capillarys they can be clogged- again cut them out to inspect them- or blow through each component to proove flow

where was the leak originally?- was it on the reversing valve hence the replacement

Re: craft 2 ton heating mode problem
no the ex reversing valve was jammed
so it been removed
so i installled new one
after the problem happened i checked the filter drier
i didn't find it
it looks like been removed when the ex reversing valved jammed and both removed
so i received the spli without RV
filter drier
i installed the RV
without installing new filter drier
so the problem happened
cooling mode working very good
heating mode cause the compressor overheated

Re: craft 2 ton heating mode problem
was the indoor fan running in heating mode? - discharge pressure increased slowly-did the indoor coil get warm prior to reaching 475 psi? there should be 2 strainers/check valves - have u checked the indoor check valve?? trying to find info on craft units- can only find weather craft-

yes
discharge pressure increased slowly ?
yes
did the indoor coil get warm prior to reaching 475 psi?
yes
the indoor get too warm
but the return pipe from it was too little hot
have u checked the indoor check valve
no

Re: craft 2 ton heating mode problem
thanks to every body
today i took the indoor unit then connect it to an other outdoor unit
so it worked both in heating and cooling mode
so the problem no in the outdoor unit
then you suggest me to check the reversing valve
filter drier
can you explain more what you mean by check valves
and strainer gauze

RV fault???
i dont know
i searched for the filter i didnt find it
it been removed before by another tech
and i checked the capillary tube
both flow was very good
reversing valve my fault
so before removing it
what you advise me to do

Re: craft 2 ton heating mode problem
so did you replace the RV and drier, and did you keep the RV cool during brazing..as per your other post?

Re: craft 2 ton heating mode problem
Well, as per your other post on keeping a RV cool during brazing
As it's unlikely you have any cooling gel i would;
Fit the RV on to the pipework without braze.
Wrap the RV body with wet rag/cloth/paper towel
Using the correct method, braze one joint.
Wet the rag/cloth/paper towel again....and repeat until all joints are brazed to satisfaction
I have to add, this should have been covered during your training experience....

realistically u cant- energisin the coil wont prove that the seals are ok- only vac and gas and run it

Re: craft 2 ton heating mode problem
Charge it with refrigerant, but i would say it needs a damn good pressure/leak test first, once happy with that it will need a good vac. As your having problems make sure your certain you've achieved a good enough vac. Then charge to rating plate, and test run in all modes, take temps pressures etc and evaluate how well it's working...or not

Re: craft 2 ton heating mode problem
thank you man
today i installed the split unit
and i vacuumed it
then charged it
it work perfectly in cooling mode
with current 12 ampere
and suction pressure between 55 and 60 psi
but when in heating mode
the heating is perfect
but the current is start with 13 ampere
and pressure increase when it reach 300 then heating effect start
and pressure rise to 430 psi with current 17-18-19 ampere
so the outdoor fan turn off then current be 14 ampere
and compressor keep working and pressure fall hesitatinglyto 300 so the out fan start working
and rise again to 17 18 19 ampere
heating is very good
i checked the filter drier and capillary tube and indoor unit for any blockage and they are clean

Re: craft 2 ton heating mode problem
no
outdoor fan works perfectly
but when
the pressure reach 430 psi its turn off
so the pressure decrease gradually
then when it reach 300 psi its work againLast edited by kefah; 04-03-2013 at 06:59 PM.
