    Reciever or not

    Should a reciever be used on a capiliary exp device system, I am replacing a small condenser set it comes with one fitted I suppose I could cut it off but can it be left on

    no, when selecting condensing units,you select duty and expansion device either capillary or txv

    Should not use reciever in cap tube system, it will fill the evaporator in the off cycle and then flood the compressor on re starting.
    Mostly found in Oxfordshire, UK :)

    Agree - but I have seen a freezer fitted with a solenoid as a liquid stop valve, wired in paralell with the comp to prevent exactly that problem.

    It was an Angelo Po if I'm not mistaken.

    you gain nothing from it and it increases the refrigeration charge at no gain as well. I would personally remove it. The filter dryer serves as your mini receiver to ensure a liquid seal at the cap tube.

    A cap tube system is a critical charge system for a reason.
