Bosch KGU Classixx Frost Free problem

Got a problem with a Bosch Classixx KGU which really is 'frost free', in fact it doesn't work at all.

Switch it on, the green freezer and refrigerator lights illuminate, as does the red alarm light. The compressor tries to start, there's a click from what seems to be a diverter valve? at the rear, then after a few seconds the compressor stops. It tries this a couple of times then both green and red lights flash simultaneously and it goes into some sort of standby mode. I don't think its a compressor fault but I could be wrong.

Any ideas would be appreciated?
