How to Check Charge with AMP Draw?

Hey guys my second question is when checking AMP Draw comparing to Full Load AMP. Is this a accurate way of checking for overcharge? Because I have seen techs out there overcharging the system and the AMP Draw still look less than FLA. I understand receivers sometimes are oversized so a little overchage wont be effected. So does this mean I can always just go by AMP DRAW and charge the unit until it hits FLA ?

Got to agree, but watching the amp draw while charging can tell you a great deal.
Under charged and low amp draw in relation to nameplate rating, over charged and high amp draw etc.
Always have a clamp meter on when charging - even if you have calculated the additional charge for a VRV system. It lets you know the state of the compressor.

I've watched "young techs" charging to suction pressures in low ambient conditions and wondering why they can't achieve decent "back pressures" - without monitoring amp draw

Now that we are discussing "pushing in the contactor".
I know an engineer who doesn't own a recovery machine, he just connects his liquid line to a bottle and "shoves in the contactor"
    Does this work properly?
    Please discuss.

    cheers
