    Worcester Bosch Greensource 9.5kW

    Gents

I had a call from a new customer with no heating and attended yesterday.

It's the first time that I had my hands on one of these WB Greensource units and I traced the fault to the compressor soft start controller - a Carlo Gavazzi RSBS2325.

It's difficult to work out what the alarm led means but it looked like a relay protection error. Thinking that it may be a duff compressor I meggered the windings but they were fine.

Not being able to tell if it is a locked rotor fault without stating the machine, I'm left with little option but to replace the soft start first.

Here's the rub....no stock in the UK and this particular model is for the German market where the units are made.

Anyone have any experience on these WB systems?

The nice guy at Carlo Gavazzi UK says that he can't recommend a replacement starter as the model I have ends with a 'S180' and he thinks that these were specially made for WB and the internal cut out limits may be different - he says WB must advise a replacement model that is suitable for their machine.

In the meantime, the customers house is getting very cold.

WB won't talk to me and won't supply spares and say I must go through their distributors. Parts Centre are struggling as well to identify a part...

The full part number is RSBS2325A2V11C24S180 - 1phase compressor controller
    The compressor is a Mitsubishi AEH60VEH....3230w INPUT @ 50HZ

Why not just run it without the softstart, from the draw it looks like it would require a 100 or 120uf capacitor.

Are you sure its a 3.2kw input. That would leave the COP at under 3.

They look the same as the ones used on Danfoss heat pumps, try HPI in Ireland, http://www.heatpumpsireland.com/
Alternatively Fridge spares wholesale in ireland stock them, give Robbie a ring on 00353214317645

As to being specifically programmed to Mitsubishi, for no heat i would fit this until the direct replacement can be sourced?

    Thanks guys
After speaking to a chap at emmerson I managed to get an alternative soft start from HRP
Danfoss do one as well ...called a 1phase compressor soft starter
As the house is out in the sticks on an 80amp supply, I didn't feel confident in bypassing the starter. LRA for the mitsi compressor is 121A

The Emmerson soft start are a nice unit and very reliable. Can't understand for the life of me why there would be a compressor of that size on a 9.5kw machine. We'd only have a compressor that size on a 19kw unit.

just to add I had a big heater battery with two CG solid state relay's one of which failed. CG UK stated 7 weeks for delivery so I wonder if they don't actually hold any stock at all?

managed to get a different one next day for half the price which is working a-ok
