probe calibration
if i have a calibrated thermometer can i calibrate a thermostat and issue a calibration certificate

I don't see why not, as long as you can provide an audit trail for the calibration.

Hi Martin
I think you could issue a certificate saying it has been checked against a calibrated thermometer but not a calibration certificate saying it has been calibrated (we could get the Chinese whispers effect). There are several different types of temp sensors which have varying response times, hysteresis, repeatability, changes with airflow rates etc. These measurements for calibration are carried out in lab conditions where temp, humidity, pressure etc are measured and compared under stringent conditions. Do you have a procedure for checking a sensor like number of measurements and times etc?
