Slippery Floor in the Freezer Room

HI, Appreciate any advice.................

We had freezer room where the moisture carried from outside air cannot be control, it also causes the floor slippery.

1. how to prevent from ice build up on the floor ?
2. How to remove the ice build up on the floor without heating the floor ?

This is a problem as you are in a high humidity area and I assume the floor was constructed with underfloor heating for the frost heave prevention. i would appreciate a bit more information as to size of freezer and layout etc.
But as you have identified that your moisture ingress is from air ingress not product load. There will be the need if not already established for a loading dock/door enclosure that can be conditioned to prevent the ingress. The next step if this is already in place is to check the de humidification system or to install one.

Ice removal is the problematic area in the freezer and with manual labour is probably your option or shutdown if applicable.

THis is very typical in India. The doors are not closed properly. The strip curtains are rarely in place. We had tried using air curtains. Though that gave improved performance, the problem as such is not eliminated totally.

Something else to check is defrost termination. If the defrost cycle is terminated by time duration without fan delay, warm moist air is blown out into the room. After defrost, the coil needs to re-freeze before the fans start.

Many freezers have a fan/termination setup which terminates the defrost on coil temperature and then delays the fans until that coil temperature drops below freezing. On these, if the time duration is set too short, the fan/termination function is cut short.

For the information, we are operating temperature control warehouse which approx 198,000 sq.ft. with 18 several sizes of chambers.Some of the freezers room not be able to maintain door close due the the high activities.

Can anybody advice or provide me the contact for the Consultants in Cold Warehouse design & operation.
