    Pulling too many amps!

I fitted a new Frascold single phase semi hermetic comp today , brand new, new contractor , switch gear all changed , compressor is taking overload out when switching over from start to run windings , I think it's the run capacitor ! Would like a second opinion :/) picking replacement capacitor tester tomorrow !!!!! Should be pulling 6.5 amps(run) ,pulling 12amps and rising !thanks in advance"

Both Phase and neutral are present and correct?
    Amp meeter functioning OK?
Voltage as per COMPRESSOR marking plate?
Amperage still twice of COMPRESSOR marking plate?

    Yepp, check your capacitors.

If all of the wiring is correct. Give it a dry run (no power to comp and check the resistance if that is ok. Check the microfarads of the capacitor using your multi metre. If that's ok check the windings with an ir tester if that's all good. It might be gas or system related check your pressures and make sure it's running the right pressures.

Over charged system will have these symptoms.
Looks to me like you are looking for the key under the light, I believe that the problem is else where in the system.

Start relay not switching, or wired incorrectly.
