Brandt upright frost free freezer Mod UFB260WU

Hi Folks, This is really important because it's my own home freezer.

Problem is that sometimes it does not defrost and the evap gets clogged up with ice. I have got to the circuit board (which I changed a couple of years ago because the comp would not cut in). My instinct tells me that the evap sensor may be faulty. I have checked the resistance and it is in the region of 18-20K ohms and the cabinet sensor reads about 12K ohms, which on the face of it seemes to make sense, but the evap sensor might be intermitantly faulty. In the absence of a wireing diagram it is difficult to determine how the defrost is energised, the compressor relay is labeled RL2 but there dos'nt seem to be another relay on the board; strange!

If anybody out there has any idea what the problem may be or has a wireing diagram I would be eternaly grateful. Also does anybody know what type of sensors are used, ntc, ptc etc. Thank you to anybody that can help.
