    hello
I have a system not feeding evaporator properly the equalizer line is frosted up it seems liquid refrigerant is leaking into it. Has anyone experienced this problem before?

    Re: Tx valve equalizer freezing

Was quite common on older valves, not some thing you see as common nowadays.

If the TXV bulb is fitted after the equalising line, a passing valve will cause the the valve to close prematurely.

The equalising line must be after the bulb (on the suction)

    Thanks for you reply.
The equalizer line is upstream of bulb sensor and the evap is starved ..icing up the 1 st part of the coil..The eqaulizer line is freezing ....Looks like tx valve faulty...is it worth checking anything else out?

    TXV is faulty, replace it.

Change valve - it's passing internally

    Hi RBM
If the TX is only a small do as chemi-cool suggests and change it. If the seals leak on the pin or pins depending on the make and type of valve, liquid will get to the equalizer line. On some valves these seals can be replaced, as with Sporlan DA and AA valves but it's probably not worth it.
When you install a new TX valve make sure you check the superheat setting and if possible place the sensing bulb between the evap outlet and the equalizer line.

    Re: Tx valve equalizer freezing

In the tx valve is a small o ring on the stem to isolate the bottom membrane from the outlet of the valve, to get external equalisation.
this o ring is faulty, so needs replacement. Now some liquid from the valve goes thru the line and gets into the suction line.
