    Fire hazard? Please help !

    HI GUYS-

My refridgerator has been making very very loud banging noises (more like a boom) in the middle of the night when it starts it's defrost cycle and now all of a sudden I am smelling a burning dusty smell coming out of the back and sides of the fridge-

Is this an imminent fire hazard? The fridge is about 6- 10 yrs old.

    PLEAS CONTACT ME ASAP !

MY GAS STOVE is two feet away and I'd rather not blow up !

    Thanks-

    Worried

Best option and safest would be turn off your refrigerator at the power supply and get a service technician to identify the problem

    .

If in doubt unplug it and get it tested.

If it is ten years old there are potential flamable components
used within the thing. If you smell burning then turn it off and
    get it tested.

It could be something very simple, like a piece of plastic that has come
into contact with the defrost heater and as it defrosts it is melting the plastic.
But even that would need checking out.

There is only one course of action you should take and that is

ISOLATE AND HAVE IT CHECKED OUT....

    Regards

    Rob
