    suction pressure

    Hi
Can some please give me an insight on the causes of high suction pressures in an NH3 screw compressor when the system is not on load? any other literature on the operation of NH3 refrigeration system will be highly appreciated
    thanks

    Re: suction pressure

Not knowing the design of the system or putting my hands on it, I have 3 suggestions.

    1. Could it be high suction temp? maybe a unit's hot gas defrost valve is leaking by or may have a unit in defrost when all the liquid solenoids are closed.
    2. Talking a Reciprocating compressor. If false loading it, load goes away, discharge gets diverted to the suction.
    3. If a screw and economized, may have a bad regulator on the economizer line.

Just a few that I could think of.
    Good luck!

Can you, please, clarify above text in bold ....

    1. compressor is not working ... stopped
    2. or compressor is working at low capacity

    3. how high is that "high" suction pressure
    4. in the same system you have some other running compressor/s

    Best regards, Josip

Also check the discharge chek valve...
