    Essesential Reading For Engineers

    Hi Guys,

Does anyone have a list of what pieces of legislation UK engineers SHOULD Read and therefore know !!!.

I know there are hundreds of documents out there and you could spend days downloading them especially if you are on dial-up. So what should we be reading, any suggestions on a "Base" level on knowledge to work from

    Regards

    Rdoc

Legislation for us guys, has always lurked in the background and traditionaly the hands on people had very little use of it.

Recently it has become more ingrained into our processes, especially with a work force now more finely tuned into considerations of work ethics and practices.

Now its becoming a hot potato, and you ask a very pertinent question.

Answer is, there isnt anything in one simple format. Its a cluster of this and that.

But, we at RE, will attempt to piece together the jigsaw into some logical form which is easily navigated and comprehendible.

So, if you guys know of anything thats current and important, throw it into the bag for starters.

I think pressure testing procedures should be any engineer's first port of call. Then, if you do ammonia, HSE guidance note PM81.

has a pile of stuff as useful guides.

A bit to chew on to start with....
