    Commissioning Sheets for Splits?

I was recently contacted by a customer regarding some Daikin units that I had installed about 6 months ago.
Where the customer was asking if he could have some commissioning sheets for the said equipment.
I advised him that it was not normal practise to compile a commissioning sheet for splits, as they generally come pre charged.
And that with the complex variable speeds etc etc.
That most manufacturers simply require a test run with the unit ramped up and down using the Thermostat settings. Also as they have self diagnosis software etc. Further logging is not necessary.
I explained that on the likes of close control equipment where physical adjustments are required. Then the manufacturers supply commissioning sheets.

In short it is not normal to provide such for a split install.

    Or do others do differently?

    Re: Commissioning Sheets for Splits?

i agree , but 1 customer wants system operating pressures so it involved fitting gauges and logging pressures in both modes at full demand with the condenser running current as on mitsi/daikin splits it doesnt tell you inverter output-also you cannot record compressor load as the different voltage/frequency is innacurate- unless its a mitsi power inverter which will tell you comp current, fan output step,dc bus voltage, and target/actual frequency.
so on every service visit, its not just a matter of bashing the filter and testing a pump, now its a bit more involved, and to aid this i got some 410a qwic couplers to prevent fridge gas loss and save me lil fingers from getting burnt- will send you a copy when i get some sheets tomorrow

You do not need to take pressures to provide a commissioning sheet. We do a sheet with every install( don't we Kev).
It logs make serial model refrigerant and quantity, pressure test, vacuum (often witnessed as these things can bite you on the bum) etc etc
we don't take amps or pressures as on inverters that's irrelevant.

The strength, leak and Vacuum tests are all logged and witnessed by the customer.
The details of which I always put on my timesheet.
But as for running parameters and attaching gauges I don't normally go there.

We tend to adopt the "If it ain't broke don't fix it" attitude where splits are concerned.

A completely irrelevant question springs to mind when reading this...

When you guys say "But as for running parameters and attaching gauges I don't normally go there" how did you do the strength/pressure test and vacuum without gauges/a manifold attached?

i think what grizzly is referring to is once pressure tested ,vacced and charged, comissioned- gauges are only then fitted if system poorly performs or an error code referring to pressure problems is indicated

    OK. To Clarify.
When completing the install having logged test pressure etc.
By using a manifold and the relevant gauges.
The system is then set to work (Or for the more pedantic.)

The Suction and Discharge ports on the condensing unit are opened.

From then on is it wrong to test run the A/C without the further use of gauges.

Therefore my original question still stands.

What amount of detail is normal when first running a newly installed a/c system?
Irrelevant your question may be if I had explained further in the first place Viking.
I rather assumed my question was simple enough!

    Spot on IM.
So does anyone have a sample Commissioning sheet?
Or is it just as we discussed where initial logging is all that is done,
    Thanks Grizzly
