    Smeg fab30rs7

Would be very grateful of opinions on whether the repair below to a SMEG FAB30RS7 would affect the performance of the unit. The photos show damage to the rear of the freezer compartment that has been repaired with some type of filler. Obviously it's impossible to see the extent of the damage or how much of the pipe below is blocked by the filler, but the fridge is not cooling down. The location of the filled point at either the entry/exit point to the pipe network within the freezer compartment suggests to me that it's possible that either the coolant is escaping from this point, or that the filler is obstructing flow of the coolant.

To give you the background on this, we have purchased this fridge 'reconditioned', but collected it already packaged from the sellers premises. Hence we didn't see it working, and didn't see the damage to the freezer compartment until we got it home. After leaving it standing for fifteen hours then powering it up, it was getting hot rather than cold, so was returned to the reconditioning engineer who evidently found that the expansion vessel had been cracked, possibly in transit. We were not shown the cracked vessel, however, nor shown the fridge working after repair. The engineer evidently replaced the expansion vessel and re-gassed the system.

We got it home again, this time exercising extreme caution to prevent any damage to the unit. The unit is still not working, although the fridge compartment is not heating up to the same extent as before. The top wall of the fridge compartment is still warm to the touch, though. We have demanded a refund, but the seller is insisting that his engineer has a third go at repairing it. My feeling is that this fridge was probably not reconditionable in the first place, probably because of damage to the pipe network in the freezer compartment. Would be very appreciative of people's thoughts on this.
