TK SB310 water pump replacement hints?

The water pump on my TK unit is starting to drip at the shaft, and I can feel some play in the shaft. The TK dealer is 50 miles away, so I'd just like to make one parts run! I've not replaced a water pump on a TK before, but it does not look too tough - HOWEVER - being a TK, I'm sure they have slipped something sneaky into the procedure.

    Questions:

Apart from the pump and gasket, I figured I'd get a thermostat. Is there anything else I should get or any precautionary items? I'm Wanting to avoid getting elbow deep and discovering that that something won't come apart as it should and now needs replaced as well.

Is there anything that's likely to cross me up and/or catch me unprepared, either tool or parts wise?

    Thanks!

    Dave

the 13-0508 kit comes with the water pump and required gaskets and plugs.
The coolant drain plug is behind the starter motor, 12mm spanner will fit in to slacken off without removing starter motor. You can then stick some garden hose over the drain pipe and catch the coolant.

to change the pump is straight forward enough.
Stick the new gasket to the waterpump with sealant to hold it in position.
And when you replace the o ring put sealant around that too.
Then make sure you do the bolts up tight, or it'll leak.

funny things these water pumps, some units do 40,000 hours with the original pump, others go thru three or four in that time.

Thanks Gravy! All went well - although I'm pretty sure I'd STILL be looking for the drain plug had you not told me!

Thanks again, you guys are great!
