Re: Cooling requirements for nightclub
According to ASHRAE Fundamentalsn 2009:
Moderate Dancing F18.4: Male 265W, Female 250W
Then under “Miscelaneous Leisure Activities” F9.6: Dancing, social metabolic heat per sqare mete = 140 to 255 Watt/m2
You do the math.Well, did anybody ever dream of calling Aramis a coward? No, certainly not!

Re: Cooling requirements for nightclub
High ventilation requirements: consider a rotary wheel which can stop to provide some free cooling (like a Flakt Sting, Luft Gold or System Air - I don't remember what they call that type, but there are a number of similar type units) These will be harder to sell but much cheaper to run.

Re: Cooling requirements for nightclub
hi mick, well for 10 months a year you can get free cooling , with extract fans and air filtered vents to replenish the extracted air= sedgy < ex ABB flact eng,<
and remember the hotter the cliants are the more they spend

Re: Cooling requirements for nightclub
Sorry, I should have pointed out that you will still need cooling, but Id go for a roof top pack' or something like that. As for Sedgy's (very valid) point above just leave the setpoint up a bit.
Hope I brought back happy memories Sedg!

Re: Cooling requirements for nightclub
Depends on location.
If there is a high concentration in the population of plus size women this must be factored in.
As we all know nothing sweats like a fat lass

I notice you're from Fingal, any club/clubber in particular you are thinking about. I notice that Shenanigans has closed recently - maybe it was structural damage!

Re: Cooling requirements for nightclub
Remember that in the shoulder season and winter you can get for free cooling, and remember also to bring in many air changes per hour in proportion to the people present (CO2 <500)

Re: Cooling requirements for nightclub
Ok have spoken to the client regarding the information that you have kindly provided, he is interested in a ventilation system with cooling, rotary wheel is a no no, there is a location outside for a ahu depend on size and weight? as stated before approxiately 500 party goers (350 dancing and 150 standing by the bar), with regard to the ventilation system sizing can you help with the following:-
1, Air changes/litres per second per person/litres per m2?
2, Cooling load kw required for the fresh air?
3, Internal design temperature?

Re: Cooling requirements for nightclub
Why not check this out from Hitachi, the Econofresh. I haven't used it myself but was talking to somebody last night who has used it with great success.

Re: Cooling requirements for nightclub
Just insulate the supply duct on the inside (if you're painting it). Also watch the extract/ return air with the economiser.

Re: Cooling requirements for nightclub
Hi
RSTC, with regard to the supply that if were to insulate on the inside the static pressure of the system will increase dramatically, this is a problem as the daikin roof unit has only a static pressure of 205 pa, as we are using rectangular ductwork and spiral ductwork to in insulate on the inside would be very difficult.
Please can you explain your quote
"watch the extract/return air with the economiser.

Re: Cooling requirements for nightclub
Then insulate on the outside! ...I was only suggesting to insulate on the inside if you wish to paint the ductwork (hint if you do insulate in the inside - the internal size of the ducting is the size you use for your air flow/ fan calculations) You can get pre-insulated spiro.
Perhaps you would consider getting a design engineer involved
