Question Sporlan ORIT 15/20 installation tips

    Hello Everybody
I have a question and I hope I posted in the right forum, I need to install some Sporlan ORIT 15/20 constant evaporator pressure valves, they require an high pressure pilot line, but the engine room is faraway from the installations, so I was wondering if I can use the liquid line before the expansion valves for this purpose.
    Can anybody help?
    Thank You very much.

The high sidepressure source allows this valve to be provided normallyopen. This allows the valve to be operated at minimal pres-sure drop to ensure maximum capacity by minimizing suc-tion line pressure losses. The high side pressure source mustmeet the following criteria to ensure optimum performanceof the pilot operated pressure regulating valve:

    • Only refrigerant vapor should be used as the high pres-sure supply source to the pilot valve.
    • The pilot supply line should be kept as short as possibleto minimize refrigerant condensation.
So I would say that the answer to your question is NO, it does require a high pressure vapour supply...
And further more, the selected valve is probably not suitable for your application.
    Sorry

I had read the part of the manual you are mentioning, I was hoping to hear from somebody that had took the risk of play with the word "should" present in the sentence

Re: Sporlan ORIT 15/20 installation tips

Can anybody help suggesting which type/brand of valves should I use instead of the above mentioned valves (it seems they are not suitable for my needs) to regulate the evaporating pressure of some medium capacity evaporators? They are locate quite far away from the engine room so high pressure vapours are not an option, and regular Danfoss KVP line cannot cover the capacity I need....

    Look for KVP

    Look at IRP

    Try google sometimes, great help...

Hi Chemicool, Thank You for your answer but, as I said in my post, KVP valves are too small for my needs, I had consider them and discarded the option, that's why I was asking for some more option...
And also thank you for the suggestion of this "google" thing, I nver heard of it, I'll check it out... :-)

Could you run two KVP valves parrallel to each other?
Mostly found in Oxfordshire, UK :)

    Evapcoil,

It's somewhat hard for us to come with suggestions when we haven't been given any of the design parameters apart from that the valves has to be installed far from the hot gas pipe...

The best anybody can do under these circumstances is to point you towards the manufacturers information so that you who have the design criteria can make the selection.

Run the individual suction lines back to the engine room?

    Hello again everybody
I'm sorry for the lack of information in my post, I'll try to give you some more details on the problem I'm trying to solve:
wanted evaporation temperature 0-2°C , suction pression/temperature on compressor -17°C
coil type A cooling capacity 42Kw, suction line leaving evaporator 42mm CU
coil type B cooling capacity 16Kw, suction line leaving evaporator 35mm CU
coil type C cooling capacity 11Kw, suction line leaving evaporator 28mm CU
Again thank you everybody for your help and I apologize for the lack of info in my previous posts

This is a long shot but i was playing with the idea of using EXV with controller such as Dixell XEV.

You can control the amount of refrigerant in each coil via the EXV or an SV on the liquid line and/or the suction line.
    Any thoughts?

So all three evaporators are to be running under similar conditions, at around 0-2*C?

Yes Viking but they are located in different and far from each other location on the ship and have separate pipe lines going down to the engine room...
I'll look in to your suggestion....
    Thank you though... :-)

    Now, there is a thought...

Why then can't the ORIT valves be located in the engine room???

Re: Sporlan ORIT 15/20 installation tips

    I think I found the solution: ORIT-PI-2/-3/-4
    This should work... :-)
I can't put them in the engine because the pipes from these equipments join some other lines few decks above the engine room... It's quite a complicated and interconnected plant...

Re: Sporlan ORIT 15/20 installation tips

What had I done of so horrifying? I know I might had been short on details, and I apologize for it but it is not easy to try to explain a system where we have three separate systems (positive temperature, low temperature and cooling back up for technical spaces) working with 4 compressors that can work with all the three system through a connecting manifold...
On ships We have different needs than a regular system on land where space is not an issue... Here everything is compressed.. Saying this I'm not intending to offend anybody but in the mean time I find the "" face a bit out of place...

Well, 750 valve, thank you very much fior your suggestion, it seems it can work with the example configuration 1-1 :-)
Thank you very much for the new prospective!
