I found some refrigerant tanks at my work today labeled r-262. i tried searching for what this was online and could only find that its some kind of chloroflouropropane. Anyone seen this before and if they have what was it used for and what am i dealing with. thanks.

I have never come across this beforee. Based on the molecule it is likely to be flammable, please be safe.

My guess is that it was made to replace r-22 or 502,

It's used as a catalyst for something or other in the petrochemical world .
I'm afraid I can't elaborate as I could not be arsed reading all this .

Thanks for that link Stufus, says it all really, clear as mud....

For these situations, UOP's primary CCR Platforming catalyst of choice is R-262, which contains a 20% higher platinum loading than in R-264. R-262 is recommended for some older generation CCR Platforming units and is typically also recommended when UOP catalyst is used in CCR reforming units designed by others. R-262 is also being used by several customers with relatively high sulfur levels in the feed to their reforming units.
