    C02 pipe wall thickness

    .

Hi guys I'm struggling with finding any basic information on how pipe wall thickness is callculated.

I have have information and calculations for blow off limits but I'm struggling finding
how to work out what pressure would dictate what wall thickness (gauge) is required.

So if any one can point me to a source where I can find information about C02
pipe sizing callculations I would apretiate it.

Oh I want to be able to do it the old fashioned way and use the formuli not just
a software callculator. I have them.

    Thanks

    Cool runnings.

    Try www.copper.org

    What is your pressure limit?

    Thanks Chem

but I can't find referance to calculations that explain
how C02 pipe is sized for wall thickness.

Maybe I'm not looking in the correct section?

    All the best

    Cool runnings.

I don't think there's such a thing as a formula. I should recommend to use the tables of the tube manufacturers with their max allowable pressure, included of course safety factors.
It's better to keep your mouth shut and give the impression that you're stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.

    I have just found this.

It is the standard for copper pipe.

    .

I have also found that it is callculated to.

Burst pressure at 55 degc divided by 4.

So the burst pressure is 4 times greater than the safe working pressure.

    All the best
