    Air dryer compressor burn out

Was at a faulty air dryer today. Compressor was down to earth. Tested oil and its acidic. If the dryer is to be repaired it will no doubt need a burn out dryer.

As the dryer uses hot gas injection, is there anything to be considered before fitting the burn out dryer or would you just proceed as normal?

    Thanks in advance.

It will be very wise to flush the system with liquid OFN to remove acidic oil residue,

Looks like the dryer had developed a gas leak, no lp, so i suppose compressor death was inevitable.

After removing the compressor we began flushing the system with OFN as most of the oil had ended up in the evaporator. This oil looked clean (although tested acidic) but the small amount of oil that was left in the compressor was as black as coal with the burn out.

Turns out the dryer is to be replaced so no compressor required. Its probably the right decision as the old horse had not been without its troubles in the past.

If the air dryer is small someone times its cheaper to replace it with a new one.

If u decided to put a suction line drier in there go back a week later and pull the filter out and put a spool piece of copper back in there. On the liquid line make sure u put a high acid core in there like a sporlan HH drier. Add some acid away from sporlan and pull a good vacuum get it below 500 microns.
