    Hmmm

maybe I shouldn't but I am a bit of a fooker for taking on management

what they up to mate ??

Gis the full picture & will see if I know or know someone (employment law specialist @ home office) who can make some suggestions

As for unions, cant really do much but give advise unless they have majority of employees at your work

I'm not a believer in unions, don't forget they have a vested interest and it may not tally with yours, they
    are a business too!!

    Hi Jon

If and thats a big IF....you all stick together then they have no chance, unless they are prepared to sack everyone & re-employ new.....which is unlikely

You need someone in the service team to become spokesman for all

Who can sit down and amicably put the workers side across

One thing a lot of companies are playing on is hyping up the struggles of the recession

The recession does not really hit the service industry as it does others

As the equipment still has to be serviced & even more so now with the introduction of F-Gas laws - you have your guarenteed service for compulsary leak checks, which your company should be promoting to improve business and to keep customers within the law

Even the install side has not been hit that hard this time round as all the cowboy installers have gone due again to F-gas...a friend with a service company is over-run with installs since july, which he has never promoted for !

So on the whole they appear to be just trying it on mate

All stick to your guns, as one & let the spokeman address how you can not afford the cut in money, how you will all assist in promoting F-Gas Regs & how you expect due to F-Gas work to increase not decrease

    Unfortunately they can mate

All they have to do is change the way you work or equipment you work on

& then after a period of time they can declare that they have been monitering

the changes within the company & they are now legally bound to ammend contracts to take into account

    the norm

when you accept changes & they then become the norm, contracts have to take into account

the work you now carry out

This is a rough guide of how I understand the contract changing loophole works

They can and do all the time.

All they have to do is tell you in advance what they are going to do.
If you disagree then you make yourself unemployed.

If they want to do it, they will do it.

Either take it on the chin or find another company, if you are serious and enough
of you do it they will give you better T&C's or just employ semi skilled guys.

    cool runnings

    Re: Unions

Write up your own collective agreement and present to employer, effectively an in house union of employees.
