Hotpoint FFA40X no power
Hi all,
I have a hotpoint FFA40X fridge freezer from Hotpoint. it used to give the bleeping noise with flashing lights every now and then when we left the door open overnight by mistake..
recently it happened again, as usual we switched it off for a while and back on again but it didnt fix. I asked my girl friend to empty it out and let it defrost for few days. left it off two days and now when we plug it in, the thing doesnt even show any power...
any advice will be helpful guys.. please advise where should I start from?
thanks

Re: Hotpoint FFA40X no power
is there a wiring diagram on the back of it? theres probably a 20mm glass fuse protecting the pcb

Re: Hotpoint FFA40X no power
Install Monkey, I have attached the wiring diagram.. Im hopeless reading the wiring diagram although confident to fix it myself..
so far I have looked into the Overload (attached to the compressor) and visually found some fine netal sort of shavings on plastic cover.. will look further once my brother has dropped off my multi meter he borrowed..
I see the thermal fuse on the diagram but dont know where its located.. do you think its located on PCB on the very top where the buttons are?
please advise.. really appreciate your helps guys..

Re: Hotpoint FFA40X no power
thermal fuses are small overheat stats that reset at a predetermined temp theyll be located on the evap coil inside-it wont be them.
is there power at the socket? plug a table lamp in to prove this
does the light work when the door is open? if so theres power, inspect the pcb visually for a fuse or charring .
is there a fast freeze option-this bypasses the thermistor and will run continuosly

Re: Hotpoint FFA40X no power
Frigidare, dry solder join will cause this. So many problems with soft solder on mass produced P.C. boards.
To the optimist, the glass is half full. To the pessimist, the glass is half empty.

Re: Hotpoint FFA40X no power
it could be just heat rejected off the resistor, inspect the back of the pcb to see if there are any cracks in the solder.
you still need to test power to the pcb and power out off the relay
