Energy usage Screw vs. Recip industrial compressors
I need to calculate the energy usage difference between a screw and recip compressor in a 200 ton ammonia system. Can anyone point me in the direction of some software or calcs for this?

Re: Energy usage Screw vs. Recip industrial compressors
You will need to know the parameters of the system. Suction pressure, discharge pressure, suction superheat etc. Then you can calculate from the manufacturers specifications. Another big factor is if the system runs unloaded a great deal of the time. Screw compressors are not as efficient at partial loads.

Hi
as per NH3LVR, I totally agree. Single stage or two stage compression cycle.

Re: Energy usage Screw vs. Recip industrial compressors
hi..
In energy usage Recip is good ,compare to screw.
For example
100Tr ammonia Screw input power 83 kw and recip 72 kw at 0Deg Evaporation and 40 Deg Condensation
In part load system screw is best....
