AEG Santo Fridge won't cool, probably more than just blocked evaporator

Hi a few months ago my AEG fridge freezer's alarm started beeping and the fridge would stop cooling. I was advised to turn off the whoe fridge freezer with the freezer door open for about 6-10 hours and that would fix the problem (blocked evaporator). It did and usually the fridge alarm won't beep for a few days, sometimes weeks. This week the fridge stopped cooling without any alarm beeps, and turning the fridge freezer off for a while doesn't seem to fix the problem anymore.

Any ideas? I hope I don't have to buy a new fridge as this one was already too expensive!

    Many thanks!

If evap is blocked switching off for 6 -10 hours isnt enough. 24 hours minimum with freezer empty and both doors open.
Any sign of frost in freezer,on food or back plates is indication that evap is blocked.

Thanks, I'll try 24 hrs. Do you know why the fridge alarm used to beep but now it no longer goes off?
