Which recovery unit?

It has come to one of those times when my trusted Promax 5000 after +10 years of hard service, including a rebuild, has collapsed and died. Time to move on I guess, so now the question is, which recovery unit should I go for?

I see there is a Promax 5410A which seems to remain as expensive as ever at £849.00

CPS do a CR700 at £745.00 with a seemingly massive capacity of 230kg/hr (liquid)

But then the Mastercool 6900/6920 looks well priced at £649.00

I don't think I can assist in helping with your selection but there is an old saying "the quality is remembered long after the price has been forgotten"

Perhaps your're right staying with quality has it's long term merits but products and technology change, who's to say there isn't a better product out there that has been overlooked?

I have heard good things about the Appion G5 twin, but not used one myself.

I use the CPS CR600E myself, and it works great for me. Takes alot of punishing without problems.

And the capacity is great, recovers even large systems quickly.

The CR700E that I have been using, makes a lot of noise but does work. However it has burst a couple of internal flexible lines, but I suppose that could happen with any unit. Also been using the Promax Minimax unit, that works very well and very quick at recovering. The Aspen Ecowarrior works well, but can easily become damaged if handled roughly and can be expensive to repair.
You takes your choice, £850.00 over 10 years = £1.63 per week. If you use it on two occassions a week it is only about £0.80 a go.

The old machine is not yet finished.
I found the drive coupling had thrown it's locking pin, which at the time was very noisy causing me to think that it had perhaps thrown a con rod or something. So an hour of strip down and rebuild, hey presto we're back in full swing again.

Push Pull and you can do that with any unit in less than 1/2 hour

I always push the liquid out 1st then just pull the vapour

Its so so much quicker

You're quite right, push pull has to be the first option sadly for me most of the systems I work on don't have receivers, no suitable access to liquid and generally can't be pumped down. So i need to have a good vapour recovery rate.

Mastercool does it for me for the past 5 years witout any problem.

I was looking at the Mastercool twin turbo at £595 is £250 cheaper than the Promax RG5410; it needed some consideration. I don't know anyone who uses this brand but guess it must have some credability.

I have the 69100 but I've heard good comments on the new 69300.

I use promax mini now as I am turning into a wimp the older I get
Nice & light, but down on power, still does the job though

I have heard that CPS CR700 is a better option..I have not used it but i had a friend who used it and he was quite happy with the product..It provides good features with cheap prise..And if at all if you are going for this please make sure you are asking for more suggestions..

Take many factors into account.
Will it recover in both liquid and vapour mode.
What capacity do you need and what will the unit do. Compare different brands but watch the extraction figure may be at differing temperatures.
How big and heavy is it.
Will it self purge (clean itself out)
The price is a factor, but can it be serviced in the country of purchase rather than having to go overseas which will take time.
