    [Bitzer Compressors] Cold Storage

Currently, we have the following compressor at our incoming Cold Store which we use to keep flowers for export at temperatures between +3 to +5 degrees Celsius.

    [2 Units of BITZER] each specification: 4H25.2, 45kW, DX Units = 2

    The area of the cold store is (l)23.6m x (w)11.9m x (h)4m = 1,123 m3

Firstly, i would like to ask whether the watts/m3 is calculated by the below formula?

    (90kw1000)/(11.85*23.6*4)

Secondly, are these 2 compressors in our cold room suited for keeping our incoming cold store at the required temperature of between +3 to +5 Celsius?

Thirdly, i am looking for a data sheet for these compressors and have emailed Bitzer but have gotten no response. Any suggestion where to find this datasheet?

Any info from an experienced individual will be highly appreciated.

I would like to help out. What refrigerant are you using, is it ar cooled or water cooled? the flowers that you export, how are they keep`t in the coldroom , are they flmed with plastic or not, keept in water containers during conservation, and how many days do they remain in the coldroom , buy the way how is the insulation of the cold room made is it exposed to the sun and how many people enyer in the coldroom and what is the mean temperature of he product when entering the cold room. To get information about those compressores try www.bitzer.de

    Hello Jose,

We use air cooled refrigerants (R22 & R404A). The roses in the cold room are held in plastic buckets with about 4 ltrs solution of Post harvest solution (Aluminium Sulphate & Calcium Hypochloride) per each bucket. About 50 to 150 buckets in the coldroom at any given time. Each bucket upto 100 stems of roses. They remain in this incoming coldroom for about 4 to 24 hours. Insulation of cold store by refrigeration panels (polystyrene embedded between steel sheets). 2 to 4 people in the cold store at any given time. Mean temperature of the roses before they enter the coldstore is between 20 to 25 degrees Celsius.

Sorry for the late reply. Will appreciate any feedback.
