Trane Adaptive Control / Helirotor compressor - oil
Hi,
I am converting a Trane chiller from R22 to R422D. I understand the Helical Rotor compressor runs on ISO68 oil. The chiller is going to be operated at -10C. Will ISO68 be ok at this temperature or should I change it to a polyolester based oil i.e. EAL Arctic 32?
Also, the chiller has an Adaptive Control unit on it. Where can I download a manual for this, including the password?
Thanks

Sparkatan ,
You will not be able to convert to R422D. The chiller will not operate correctly with R422D and especially not at -10c.

Re: Trane Adaptive Control / Helirotor compressor - oil
Hi Paulh, thanks for that.
The chiller currently has an operating range of +15 to -12C when operating on R22. Is there an alternative to R22 suitable for the helical rotor compressor?

Use R407C with POE oil. I suppose that -10C is correct for RTAA. Password is ++--++ and +-+-+-
Try to find Users manual on trane.com

Re: Trane Adaptive Control / Helirotor compressor - oil
Hi Sparkatan,
The best option is to contact your Trane office. Give them the serial no and they will do a selection. The selection will be for R404a. Normally the EXV's may have to be changed out with the EXV modules as well as a good few oil changes to minimise the mineral oil content.

I am not sure you have to replace parts... Only oil.
