Differences between various sized units
Some time ago we had a supply problem with some MHI 12.5kw cassettes. The tech support told us there is a dip switch setting which up rates the unit from 10 to 12.5kw. Better still it does not affect warranty...Sadly I was not on site when the mod was done so I didn't get the gen.
Years back I was told by an ex Daikin tech who told me that the smaller splits were the same unit with just a change of setting to up rate from 2.8 to 3.5 and 5.0 to 6.0kw
So that's two I know for definite and it's unlikely the rest don't do the same..
Therefore the manufacturers are charging us more for the same unit with a flick of a dipswitch
So, who knows the magic setting adjustment and should we share this information between ourselves?

Re: Differences between various sized units
I'd be surprised if they didn't all do this, i seem to remember Hitachi had it, but is there any difference in prices between the indoors?
