PH level of water and chemical solution - Descaling

    Dear Friends ,

How much PH value of solution of water and chemical should be maintained while doing the De-scaling of condensers. If the solution is more acidic , it will damage the copper tubes and if its less then will not remove the scale effectively.

I think that it may depend on the product being used, the following link refers to a particular brand but shows PH levels between 0.5 and 0.7 for the different options.

    Perhaps ask your chemical supplier.

While plant operates , maintain the following parameters to avoid regular de-scaling

    1) maintain alkaline ph .. 7+
    2) address dissolved oxygen issue by additives ...... To avoid tubes pitting
    3) maintain commercial hardness of cooling water around 5
    4) provide tower bleed-off
    5) maintain tower hygene

this will give you exceleent results on condenser life & plant perfformance . This will avoid sudden failures
