    Hi WEB RAM
In recent days BMS is involving more and more in all commercial installation,
So my question : is there is any room for “ BMS and control system” Forum ? as it’s a huge field & directly related with AC field !

    Re: Controls and BMS system

It's perhaps more and more used but there were almost no questions in the past relating to BMS.
It's for me more another fancy thing around a techncial system that not realy need this, somethin the you techs likes very much because they have no one reason more to sit behind their PC while servicing
It's better to keep your mouth shut and give the impression that you're stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.

A very valid subject, but it could easily be supported in the Electrical Forum.

It's good to here from manis suggesting a forum regarding BMS and control system or what botrous means to open an Electrical forum. To be honest guys I am also an Electrical/Instrumentation and Control Engineer but is working for 13 years in the Refrigeration field presently employed in GEA Grasso. In this field I have learn to work with controls, PLC, SCADA, Automation and Instrumentation. I can even install, commission and service an Industrial Refrigeration projects. It would be a nice topics to include because in the field of refrigeration Mechanical and Electrical engineering goes hand in hand. To run a Refrigeration or Airconditioning system it's needs to have an Electrical system. It will help as well mechanical designer to at least gain or learn electrical controls so that during preliminary design of such projects all mechanical components will activate in accordance to what the mechanical desinger have specified and design by the Electrical/Control Engineer.

Specially now a days refrigeration/airconditioning plant s has to be equipped with instrumentation or automation to monitor parameters for correct operation, safety and maintenance schedules. Siemens, Allen bradley and other suppliers are already including there markets in the field of refrigeration/airconditioning.

    Thanks for the suggestion Manis

    Great ideas
I was a fridgie but now work as BMS controls tech and a controls section would be well utalised as we move into the automated age - invented by Nikola Tesla of course ( the first AND and OR logic switching also the first radio remote control submarine ). Soon we may all have to carry a laptop to talk to the machines we service, ask any chiller specialist. As for electical - well thats another subject.

    Its absolutely correct,
Not only for Lowtemp application , now a days you can find many smart / relays ,device and mid rang PLC specially from Siemens , Schneider are installed for Aqua chillers / Packages and special purpose chillers,
And look for all big giants, like TRANE / YOURK / McQuay / Carrier all this giants either involved with some of the controls and communication protocols provider or intend to do so, other wise they would face a big business threat in near future. If they don’t get certification of Open protocol like Bacnet or Echlone ,

Any way , I am also belongs to HVAC with 15 years of wide experience, but this controls / PLC and its related application and its charm forced me to learn a lot of things and today I am doing as BMS officer for BIG Hub which covers more then 50K points ,,,, its really interesting. And I shall say again the Controls and HVAC shall be a counter part in next 10 years,

    Re: Controls and BMS system

    Guys
Your knowledge is much sort after and a little "controls" knowledge certainly helps fault diagnosis.
But it don't matter how big the computer or it's software.
Or even how far away it can be controlled from!

Someone still has to go and physically fix it.

Many can say it's that bit!
But finding out why is a real skill.

At least the controls industry has got their act together now.

And all Software now talks to each other!!!
Ask any Engineer and He will tell you.
The biggest problem is DO I HAVE THE CORRECT ACCESS CODES.

It don't matter how good an Engineer you are, if you can't access the controls / controller.

    You are Stuffed!

Truthfully though Guys, I have full respect for you all.
I still struggle with "proportional and intregal" ect.
    Grizzly.
may we all continue to help each other!!

    Re: Controls and BMS system

It's a natuaral prograssion for any of us who service large buildings and office blocks to have to get involved with BMS ..... it's a pain in the proverbial , but when the client asks you to alter temps in certain areas you have to be a little savvy with pc's and BMS ... I for one would be up for assitance with different programmes that control the B'stard management system , just been introduced ( thrown in the deep end ) to infinity sx8000 ... never heard of it until 2 days ago but I believe it is Trend compatible
