fridge-freezer stopped working, now working again!

Am new to this and am no engineer or electrician. Moved into a house with a frost-free Hoover fridge-freezer, so no manual or warranty etc. It stopped working a week ago (light on but no cooling effect whatsoever and no noise). Tried changing thermostat and cleared out the freezer.

It has now started working again (week later)! Have only now discovered that frost-free models shouldn't be over-filled... Exactly how filled is over-filled?!

Read a similar post where someone suggested checking the high-pressure safety switch hadn't tripped... Erm, have no idea where to look. Should I just raid the piggy bank and get a new fridge-freezer?!

Frost free freezers need defrosted properly about once a year, strange as it sounds. They ice up behind the panels, which can be removed if in a hurry. Did you switch it off, then it worked when you plugged it back in? Could be it's had time to defrost with it not working so hence now working.
