    Do air con & fridge guy's need special training certification etc etc to work in/on petrol stations in the UK?

    I know of 1 company whose guys have 17th Edition as well as the normal fridge tickets.

    You need to do a forecourt training course.
    It takes about 1/2 a day and needs doing every 5 years.

    It is basic stuff, genral health and safety and then special
    attention to brazing and hot works for obvious reasons.

    Oh and it takes 2 days not a 1/2 like I thought (the 1/2 day one must be a refresher).

    • Tools, Plant & Machinery - including hand held tools, electricity, and power tools
    • Health - including hygiene, hazardous substances, effects of the sun, temperature, occupational diseases, manual handling, vibration, noise and stress
    • Procedures - including safe systems of work, first aid requirements, and occupational road accidents
    • The environment - including pollution & waste, employers and employees responsibilities
    Petrol Retail Day
    • Hazards on a Petrol Filling Station - including hazardous zones
    • Working safely on a Petrol Forecourt - work control procedures, task classification and required documentation
    • Safe work practices + case studies
    • Case studies

    Thanks very much chaps. I had concerns re the 17th ed but the half day isn't too bad and maybe worth doing

    rb its well worth doing petrol stations-for the big petrol stations, be careful of the franchise ones-u can normally tell them as there is prayer mats in the toilets and half the pumps dont work.
    the course will pay for itself when u pull some of the fridges out,all them pound coins! its worth getting kicked whilst changing 10 watt multifit fans

    Spend more time doing the paperwork at these places than doing the job.
