R290a & R600a
Hi Guys,
Just a quick question, can you replace R290a refrigerant with R600a refrigerant?

Not easily...
They are different refrigerants and work slightly differently.
Its like saying can I swap 134a with 407c or some other similar refrigerant.

Even though both are HC refrigerants, but I don't think is easy. Don't take the risks.

You can check with the compressor manufacturer and do some preliminary studies based on the pressure temperature charts. I have an application for a food freezer running r507a (*****) and we are planning to swap for r717 (ammonia). If you do your homework and design it may work.

R290a is an IsoPropane, R600a is IsoButane
it's only a fridge, fix it. ;)
