    London Refrigeration Society

please help does anyone know or belong to a local branch of the IOR

I have been doing some reasearch and i am currently a member of RSES which hold meetings and seminars bi-monthly

I joined RSES as i find most technical info here in the uk
seems tight lipped and we pick up scraps/ tip bits here

since joining RSES back in 2002 iv'e received many technical bullitins and invites to seminars and training courses like boot camps

we seem to be 20 years behind as far as the industry goes in america concerning training/ on going training

theres plenty of courses coming up now that the busy season draws to an end and finding the gems between the rocks seems to be hard to find most product courses
seem to geared up for free stuff ie pens, fleeces

so do any of you recommend joining a local branch of IOR and investing loads of my spare time

    Re: London Refrigeration Society

well i intend to go along and see what its all about
a retired fridge lecturer i keep in touch with swears by it but most of the engineers (circle of associates) i met and keep in touch with tell me not to bother they say its an old man society

i'm always curious as to get involved with industry goings on maybe i need to get a life (hobby)outside work
been at college for the past 7 years and still have another 7 to do hopefully if it dont finish me off
3 night a week is killing me

It makes me laugh when you see some individuals doing 1/2 a dozen courses toghether but do not have any xp in the industry it does give me the hump knowing that im struggling holding down a job and these individuals are getting all expenses paid and there me paying £750 for the course

but thats the way of the world at the mo i quess
coming from a mechanical backgroung (ductwork)
    i'm forever playing catch up

feel the need to travel /work abroad one day as im trying to save £25k for a deposit on a place but getting nowhere fast
