Vibration Analysis for Frick SGC 1918 & SGC 2317, technical data needed
Hello,
I am trying to effectively perform condition monitoring on the above compressors, the vibration analysis is a great tool but unlike with our pumps and gearboxes I do not have any maintenance manuals or design info to determine what component generates what frequency in the spectrum i.e what RPM does everything run at, how many teeth or flooks on screws, bearing numbers.
Can anyone forward some information or manuals please.
Thanks

Hi, GoodVibrations
Hope from attached documents you can see what you need ... it is only a matter how to setup your instrument for each particular compressor as per math calculation i.e. choose the right group of machinery..
How to Choose the Correct Alarm Group renamed.doc
Hope this is of some help.
Best regards, Josip

The bearing in those compressors are made by SKF and you can get the bearing frequencys from them. Its best to go ahead and record what you have now to set a base line.

Hello goodvibrations.
First thing there no such thing as a good vibrations.
generally with screw sets I ask for a cold alignment, then a hot alignment re-check and set things in between. Usually most screws are mounted on a horizontal oil separator vessel, which move around between hot and cold.
If alignment is not correct the first thing to trend a gain is the thrusts bearings. Ring the "Rat man " local laser alignment guru.

Magoo, good point. Many important.
Big problem deceiving vibration management slide valve and slide stop.
Watch compressor vibration you are just consistently make a finding of bad bearings or alignment problem, but keeping a slide valve.

Im not sure what a FAG bearing is, but the Factory bearings are made by SKF.

Hi Mark.
FAG is another bearing manufacturer, originally Japan I think. Now probably made in Korea or China

Re: Vibration Analysis for Frick SGC 1918 & SGC 2317, technical data needed
Hi, Magoo
FAG is from Germany, a big manufacturer ...
see here http://www.fag.com/content.fag.de/en...ucts/index.jsp
The FAG brand started with an ingenious idea. In 1883, Friedrich Fischer designed a ball grinding machine in Schweinfurt, Germany that, for the first time, made it possible to produce absolutely round steel balls by grinding. This invention is regarded as the foundation for the entire rolling bearing industry. This is one of the reasons why FAG has long been considered to be a pioneer in rolling bearing technology. Today, FAG is one of the leading brands for applications in machine building, the automotive industry and in aviation and aerospace technology. The Schaeffler Group's FAG brand has companies, subsidiaries and sales agencies in all major industrial countries.SKF was founded in 1907 and grew at a rapid rate to become a global company. As early as 1920, the company was well established in Europe, North and Latin America, Asia and Africa. Today, SKF is represented in more than 130 countries. The company has more than 100 manufacturing sites and also sales companies supported by about 15,000 distributor locations. SKF also has a widely used e-business marketplace and an efficient global distribution system.

Call Paul Conlley with FRICK..he is the newest service mgr with with the OEM and make sure to use my name...ask him why when a OEM rebuild kit sent out of the Baltimore parts office of FRICK shipped bearings the little boxes inside the BIG box that says FRICK on it ALL the little boxs SAY SKF????Stop leading these people down the wrong path they are here for info and dont really care if your feelings get hurt they need the facts to get the correct results..SKF HAS THE INFO YOU SEEK!!!Im done with this thread and the childs play..Instead of spamming this thread pm me if you got issues with this post

At this time I'm working on Frick TDSH 193, FAG bearings, probably to Europe uses other than the original Frick in the United States.

Any companies bearings will fit the machine. The question is how much liability you are willing to risk. This may be a good topic for a thread; but not much refrigeration content. Does anyone know a generic source for bearing pass frequencies or vibration references?
