    Engine Room Location

How important is it to have a blast freezer close to the engine room and why? We are running with a 2 stage plant on amonnia.

NANUUK, I think you need to explain the question, before we try to answer it?

O.K. here is the situation we are looking at or should say management is looking into adding 3 blast cells to our facility they are thinking of putting these blast cells roughly about 200 ft away from the engine room. They have an option to put these cells 40 ft away from the engine room the cost of the pipe and electrical runs alone would cost a small fortune which is one disadvantage going the long way. I'm just trying to find out the pluse's if any and the minuse's of going that long way.

    nanuuk,
pipework pressure drop is probably the only reason to keeping it close to plant room.
The more pressure drop you pay a penalty with performance & power use.
Each 1 deg C of pressure drop 4% more power .
If its a well designed system it can be kept to a minimum.

Large pipe risers are also something to avoid on suction return piping.

main consider is pressure dropping in piping special in low temp system .piping and wiring is important but you send money just one time but in dropping pressure you pay more as much as your system is running .(your compressor running in low efficiency )and also piping size is very important in these system.
