Ofn
I am pretty sure that OFN has always been free of oxygen but not free of helium / small molecule gases.
There used to be industrial nitrogen which was not free of oxygen etc and had a moisture content and OFN.
So now the need has rose to include helium and argon along with the price.
seems a bit coincidental to me.
What do you chaps think ?

Re: Ofn
Not quite sure what your point is but if you need a helium mix then you need to know that there is some in there otherwise you might be misled regarding a leaking system.

Re: Ofn
I was trying to establish if OFN is free of anything else other than oxygen i.e. the other small contributions like argon and helium that the atmosphere which nitrogen is extracted from contains anyway ?

Re: Ofn
You can buy a mixture of OFN that has a trace of Helium or Hyrdrodgen for leak testing. Some leak sniffer units can detect said gases, so makes leak testing easier than spray, soapy bubble mixture for leaks.

Re: Ofn
Nitrogen is not always extracted from the atmosphere, it may be manufactured by other processes.

I was trying to establish if OFN is free of anything else other than oxygen, weather you can buy it mixed or however it manufactured.
I found the info I was after
Its 99.998 % nitrogen the rest is argon which is obviously not much
