Low oil pressure on vilter compressor
Hey I bought a reconditioned vilter recip and it keeps cutting off on low oil pressure. During the freeze cycle the oil pressure is around 50psi but during the defrost/harvest cycle the oil pressure drops to around 5psi...help please

Re: Low oil pressure on vilter compressor
Hi bsballdreamer
Could you give us a little more info like model#, what type (components) for oil seperation and return. And what does the comp sight glass look like at 5psi? What stage of loading also. Is there only one compressor and what is it cooling. Super heat would be good too. And any thing else you think might be helpful.

Re: Low oil pressure on vilter compressor
It is a vilter 456xL. I use it to run a volt ice maker with ammonia. It was low on oil but that poses a different problem...where is my oil going? There is a small amount of oil dripping near my high side shut off valve?
