    System capacity

    Hi can any one help
If you divide the net refrigeration effect by the COP do you get the actual Kw of the system, if not is there a formula to find it, many thanks

    Re: System capacity

You are correct. By definition COP = Energy output divided by energy input. Thus energy input is equal to refrigeration energy putput divided by COP. Of course, all the terms in the equation must be in similar units. When you say "actual" KW, take care that the value of COP is based on all the electrical input into the system, not only the compressor motor but also all the motors that are within the system such as, but not always, the motors that run the pumps, water and refrigerant, and fans, evaporators and condensers, and electrical controls.
