Freezer/Cooler Question
I am not an engineer, but I do own an industrial novelty display type freezer. It is a Masterbilt GT40. I need to know if it would be OK for me to change the thermostat in the unit and convert it to a cooler? I was warned that this may shorten the life of the compressor due to 'short cycling' it.

Re: Freezer/Cooler Question
It does depend on the gas.
Because when it is used as a freezer, the gas will be coming back to the compressor to help cool down the head. So it might not be a good idea. Try and find out what the gas is. I think it will be on R404a.

Yes. The spec sheet says it is R404a .

Re: Freezer/Cooler Question
If it is R404a gas, then it will have sufficient ref mass flow to cool compressor head. However, is the condenser sufficiently large enough to cater for mid temp capacity?
May need to monitor high side pressure...
