    Problems with Danfoss BD35F

I have just installed two 12V DC Danfoss BD35F compressor units in my yacht. They are drawing on average 2.5 amps each. Is this correct, as they are not really getting very cold? I have a custom built fridge and freezer and the units were designed by a good friend, who runs a refridgeration business in RSA. All advice would be appreciated.

Without some details of refrigerant type, temperatures etc it is hard to quantity what may be wrong.

Those compressors, from memory have voltage protection built into the system, if your battery banks [ note banks of ] cannot handle the draw off the system will cycle off and restart later on.

Just to add some, 2.5 amps on 12 volts would = minimum compressor run speed of 2000rpm, therefore the refrigerated space would be small and the freezer even smaller. Guessing fridge about 80 litres and freezer maybe 50. If the space is bigger, then the rpm will have to increase. Can explain further if o.p. returns..Mike.
