Fujitsu inverter split A/C 50Hz and 60Hz are interchangable?

Fujitsu inverter split systems for America and Canada are 208-230volt 60Hz (note: two hot lines) while those of Europe are 220-240 volt 50Hz (note: one hot line and one neutral). Since the compressor is designed to vary speed, could the American version work safely and efficiently with 220-240 volt 50Hz? Does the unit use the same board?
