    Retaining Temperature while Offloading Product

    Hi there

I'm new to the forum, in need of some advice in regard to maintaining temperature, while product is being offloaded.

I know there are air cutains, but those are costly and just end up getting destroyed.

    Any advice?

    Thanks

Better staff training is required here then.

It's not lack of training, it's just that the loaders don't care, get lazy or for whatever reason misjudge the height of the air curtains. Is there any alternative??

Plastic strip curtains, but loaders find them annoying.
There are better methods, but if you think air curtains are expensive, then no point talking about other options!

Money isn't the issue, it's effective maintenance. Last year over R1million was spent on air curtains, 80 pairs of them, all scrap now. The silicon flaps are an option but I can't see them being that effective. What other methods are there?

Fast acting roller doors (clear plastic), automated or manual, i prefer the manual. You have a pull wire either "X" meters side of the door.

Is there a website I can go to look these up that Includes costing? I have a meeting on tuesday and that's one of the topics we will be discussing.

If they are using forklifts I would suggest a 100x100 square tube mounted on chains so that it warns of the clearance, with a fixed channel closer to the air curtain, made of much thicker steel, as a final warning and barrier. Do this on both sides, and do some further education of the drivers. Tell them you will deduct the day's pay as a warning for the first touch, and that they will be given a manual trolley jack if they do it again. Might help, and Iscor steel is a lot cheaper than any tin plate with a fan in it.

The best is education of the operators. It may boil down to you mess up, you don't have a job.
