    Condensing Coil & Compressor Design

Did anyone know what will happen if my air cooled chiller's condensing coil have a total capacity of 3 times greater than my compressor capacity?

    For instance,
My compressor designed to have 100RT heat rejection, but my Total Coil design will have 300RT heat rejection.

    Please help. Thank You

Hello Junior. Was this a mix and match assembly? How did you manage to come by this setup? How many fans on the condenser as you are going to be disconnecting some. What will happen is condenser fans will cause TOO MUCH cooling of refrigerant causing low discharge pressure and liquid pressure to expansion device. (My fingers twitch as i try not to use two words.. maybe later).Insufficient liquid pressure will cause poor cooling performance.. Mike.

Re: Condensing Coil & Compressor Design

Sorry all, i trying to understand my competitor's performance rating so it happened like that. I am very confuse with IPLV (ARI standard 550/590-1998 table 3). I wonder if i put my chiller in different ambient course my Air Cooled Chiller(Outdoor Unit) capacity will be vary. But, i saw one of my competitor calculate IPLV like this:

    For instance : Air Cooled
    100% = 125 Tons
    75% = 93.75 Tons
    50% = 62.5 Tons
    25% = 31.25 Tons
(My competitor Fixed the capacity to do rating )

I wonder did my understanding got problem? Because base on what i understand of IPLV is calculate part load base on different ambient. Like collect 70% part load while ambient temperature at 80F. Please correct me.

As far as i understand, intergrated part load value is as you said above. With the reduction in capacity, there will be less demand from condenser so fans will have to cycle as required to maintain stable highside pressure. I'm skimming here but is it posible condenser is designed for more than one chiller?

Mike, you agree with IPLV rating should fix the capacity ? part load = percentage * full load ?

    Example:
    100% load = 100 tons @ 95F ambient
    75% load = 75 tons @ 80F ambient
    50% load = 50 tons @ 65F ambient
    25% load = 25 tons @ 55F ambient
