Carrier 30HZ chiller
Hello , today i encounter a weird issue with a carrier chiller plant model # 30hz-101-A0025-PEE
with a PRO-DIALOG plus Control (white)
the customer states it's been running for the last year with fault codes for all 4 compressor oil heaters.
Went and check the heaters and all 4 getting 120V and heating properly when the compressor start the power goes away as normal but after resetting alarms, 10 second after the alarm goes off again in the B compressors or A compressor whichever is running here's the alarms codes:
606 18=15 13=12 Comp B2 oil heater
506 18=15 13=12 Comp B1 oil heater
106 18=14 13=12 Comp A1 oil heater
206 18=13 13=12 Comp A2 oil heater
606 5=55 13=12 Comp B1 oil heater
206 19=19 6=12 Comp A2 oil heater
Please any help much appreciated....

Re: Carrier 30HZ chiller
Hi DC5
Check out your heater circuit as the supply is being interrupted to the heater alarm circuit.
Pay particular attention to which side of your N/C contacts is being fed.
The issue is likely to be a wiring fault?
Good luck Grizzly

Re: Carrier 30HZ chiller
well its complicated, the system got rearranged from the 4 panel enclosure to half since they installed 4 freq drives so no wiring diagram could be found in vessel ill post pics soon also anyone with a chat service, so can explain more in depth?

Re: Carrier 30HZ chiller
sorry but the electrical wiring is not available by the way this unit is installed in a 58 meters CMN Yacht.
the engineer can't find any wiring related to the system and the last thing done was 4 freq drives for the compressors and since no space available they relocated all electrical and the controller together in the 2nd half of the enclosure panel so yeah it's a mess here's the pics: (also if any way i can chat with anyone t obet explain the system it's my first time with this system ...

Re: Carrier 30HZ chiller
What model compressors do you have?

Re: Carrier 30HZ chiller
Have these alarms just happened or is this after the rewiring ?

Re: Carrier 30HZ chiller
DC.
My reasoning behind my question is that.
On most systems and your may well of been wired like this.
Crankcase heaters are wired through a normally closed contact either built into the compressor run contactor.
Or through an axillary contact on the top of it, with a permanent power supply to the input side of the contactor.
This means that when the compressor is off the crankcase heaters are energised.
Likewise when they are on the heaters are off.
With this in mind.
I was questioning whether the controller was still getting a status signal from these contacts.
I suspect since your comp drives were converted the board is not getting a signal to either tell it the crankcase heaters are on.
Or as is more likely it is not getting a signal that they are switched off by the fact that the comp is running.
This may of been achieved by putting the heater supply through a N/O contact as well as the afore mentioned N/C contacts.
I think! Something has been missed off during the conversion.
If you could get a diagram of the inputs and outputs of the controller it all may make sense?
