    Question superheat/subcool charts.

    Hello all.

Does anyone know where you can obtain superheat/subcool charts for some of the more popular brands of split systems?

    Thanks in advance.

Would a comparator not be of any help?

I don't know whether the 'modern' splits are provided with them; not like the old Carriers etc.

They assume, I think, that you have measured the pipework lengths and adjusted the charge accordingly.

Forgive my ignorance frank. What is a comparator?

I have a table which gives different superheat values depending on indoor and outdoor temps.

Most units when you put gas in you weigh it in.
    (Definitely inverters.)

But I was just wondering what different manufacturers recommend on their non inverter a/c's for superheat subcool.

It resembles a slide rule and gives the saturated vapour temperatures against gauge pressures for different refrigerants.

Very similar to the pressure/temp readings from your service gauges.

Normally I use pressure temp chart.
One of the wholesaler price cataloges has pressure/temp charts for about 20 different refrigerants.
Definetely not small enought to fit into your pocket
How many refrigerants does it cater for?

If you ask your refrigerant supplier nicely they should give you one, the one from bitzer is good

Normally 4 or 5 different gases. Really handy to have in the tool box

    Hi Frank,
    Danfoss used to make them.
    Do they still do?

    Hi Chemi

Most of the ones we now use are provided by the refrigerant suppliers. Even picked up the latest R410a one at the NEC

We've now confirmed DEC are you still up for a meet?
