    The problem of LG

I am looking to write a series of articles on the problems of LG. That is the company, the equipment and its effects on the industry.

This will likely be a website effort too - something like www.theproblemoflg.com or some such.

If anyone is keen to share any stories please do.

    Ha,
How about those fascia panels that kept cracking, LG claimed that it was because of oil dripping from the flare nuts! ( this system has never had a leak). The cause was the mounts for the louver motor that are not fit for purpose.

I changed three on one cassette, the client was happy for me to leave the louver motor disconnected eventually.

I have been lucky enough not to come across anymore of their kit!

    Cheers

Is this just for A/C or general products? I paid a whopping Aus$700 for a DVD/Video recorder a few years ago with a known software problem - they replaced it assuring me it had been fixed (it had not been fixed). Then the warranty ran out (me out of pocket to the full amount) and I swear never to touch another LG product! I am effected and a fridgie by trade.

No complaints here. When they work they work.
When they don't work, parts are really cheap.
I can think of many brands that have something that always goes wrong, ie a known regular fault. And the parts for them cost more when that almost guaranteed fail happens.

If LG is all you are worrying about, you should see the list of cheap chinese knock off a/c units available down here.

At least you don't need to know option codes for LGs unlike another korean brand.

I don't recommend LG to anyone, but I deal with repairing them a fair bit (no more repairs needed than any other brand though) They have a 5 yr warranty down here like any main brand, so the ones I see have run for quite a while.
